About New Balance Shoes
Originally known as the New Balance Arch Company, New Balance began as a Boston-based company in the early 1900s, manufacturing orthopedic shoes and arch supports.
Thanks to the company's expertise in hand-crafting specialized footwear, runners began turning to New Balance for custom-made shoes in the 1950s and '60s. As the New Balance reputation grew, so did the demand for New Balance athletic shoes and New Balance running shoes.
Today, New Balance is focused on meeting the needs of the everyday athlete, as well as providing more choices for everyday wear like New Balance retro and New Balance classic styles, including the popular New Balance 574 and New Balance 993.
